Dinner for a Cause Update
Our spring Gourmet Dinner Parties for a Cause program is off to a great start. The first few dinners are all full, but there are still seats available at some of the upcoming dinners. Many Thanks to our generous supporters who host these dinners in their homes with all of the proceeds coming to benefit Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County.

- A Taste of Maine Sunday
June 2, 2019, Dining for 24 - $90
Savor the bounty of our farms, fish and fields at casual, upscale Ironbound. Enjoy appetizers made with local ingredients while taking a walk in the garden. A delicious salad, entree and appropriate wines, followed by a delightful dessert accompanied by coffees, all prepared with local and regional foodstuffs, offer a distinctive dining experience.

Saturday, June 15, 2019, Dining for 12 - $100
Enjoy cocktails on the deck overlooking the Salt Pond and appetizers from our woodburning pizza oven. A four course dinner includes a Lebanese specialty, Imam Bayildi, in honor of Harry Kaiserian, a cherished friend and maker of delicious food. Rack of lamb with asparagus, ravioli with a walnut sauce, red and white wines, and mouthwatering baklava for dessert with tea or espresso complete the meal.

Start the evening with cocktails while enjoying the lovely view. Delight in a gourmet meal of cream of asparagus soup, Lobster Thermidor (Julia Child's recipe) served with rice, fresh Bibb lettuce salad and French bread. Top it off with fresh lemon custard with merengue. Bon appetit!

As in previous years, dinner will be prepared with only the freshest of local ingredients. Beginning with tasty hors d'oeuvres and aperitifs, dinner follows with a succulent Maine Bouillabaisse, salad from the garden and fresh local bread with plenty of red and white wines. Lastly, a tasty dessert with items in season completes the dinner.

Dine al fresco in the European style courtyard of historic Heywood House. Enjoy the glowing café lights and flickering fires while you listen to live jazz, all the while sipping delicious wines and tasting Mediterranean cuisine from tapas to dessert.

Spend a lovely evening at the historic Scrivelsby estate. Wine and nonalcoholic beverages are set up in the entryway so guests can take their drinks into the gardens. The evening buffet with grilled salmon in a soy, ginger and garlic glaze, butter lettuce salad with dates and Feta, awaits in the dining room. Dessert of Strawberry Rhubarb Pie by Edward Griffin of Marlintini's, follows.

- BBQ With the Clydesdales
July 20, 2019, Dinner for 20 - $100
Gather outdoors for a barbecue under the tent and have appetizers and cocktails. Visit the barn, meet and greet Butch, the rescued Clydesdale and others. Savor homemade Brisket Chicken, beans, potato salad, coleslaw, and a scrumptious dessert. Wine, beer, tea and coffee served.
