Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County is offering two training series this spring - one for those interested in becoming Hospice Volunteers, and the other for Professionals (such as Social Workers, Therapists, Medical Personnel or Clergy) who wish to know more about how to support those they serve who are grieving losses.
The Hospice Patient Care Volunteer training will begin April 8 and continue for nine consecutive Wednesdays through June 3 from 3:30 - 7:00 p.m. The Bereavement Training for Professionals will begin April 6 and run for six consecutive Mondays through May 11 from 3:30 - 7:00 p.m.
These extensive trainings include education on topics related to end-of-life issues and bereavement, skills-development for supporting patients and families, and personal exercises to enhance volunteer or professional service. Cost for the hospice volunteer training is $75, and cost for the professional training is $150.
Pre-registration by March 23 and a pre-course interview are required for both training programs. Some partial scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
